Myth - sugar leads to hyperactivity

 

We found this list of common myth-conceptions and decided to break out these 7 food related myths:

  • Different tongue parts are used for different tastes
    Each taste: bitter, sweet, salty, sour & umami can be detected all over the tongue
  • Oil in the water stops stuck pasta
    Nope, but it can stop the water foaming or boiling over
  • Swimming after eating can cause cramps
    Wrong, probably invented by parents who wanted some peace after the meal!
  • Caffeine dehydrates you
    Not really, the diuretic effect of caffeine is offset by the amount of water in a caffeinated drink
  • Sugar = hyperactivity
    Studies have disproved this. ADHD and poor behaviors still occurs in children with sugar-free diets
  • Milk increases mucous
    Nope, there’s no need to avoid dairy if you have a cold
  • Salty water boils quicker
    Adding a sprinkle of salt to fresh water makes no noticable difference. Hugh, sea-level amounts do
