For years I have been annoyed with the smell on my fingertips and under my nails after having cooked with garlic. The odor would usually stay on my hands for days regardless how much I tried to wash with soap. Now you might think “why did you not google it?” Ehrm, I wish I did it earlier 😉 Anyway I finally did some research and found these methods on how to remove garlic smell from your fingers:
Get rid of garlic smell by rubbing fingers with stainless steel under cold water
This method was difficult to reach under the finger nails to completely remove the smell
Get rid of garlic smell by rubbing fingers with lemon juice
This could hurt if your hands are dry or if you have a preexisting cut, but otherwise it worked great neutralizing the smell and it also left a scent of lemon!
Get rid of garlic smell by rubbing fingers with salt together with a little water or even better, use lemon together with the salt
My favorite method since it is always available and easy to rub all over
Get rid of garlic smell by rubbing fingers with tooth paste
Worked ok, but I rather use things I have on hand in the kitchen
Get rid of garlic smell by rubbing fingers with ground coffee
It sure smells better afterwards 🙂
Get rid of garlic smell by using baking soda
Haven’t tried this method yet, but many claim it works
