Most days I prefer to have meat grilled rather than boiled, but for this recipe I can make an exception 🙂 These spare ribs cooked in mulled wine (glögg) are so delicious they have become a regular dish on our Christmas table.
Here you can find this recipe in swedish.
Recipe: Spare ribs cooked in mulled wine (glögg)
Ingredients
- 1½ kg spare ribs
- 1 orange
- 600 ml glögg mulled wine
- 1 tsp salt
- 10 allspice
- 2 tsp rosemary
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp maize starch
Instructions
- Cut the ribs in ~5 cm pieces (2 inches)
- Clean the orange and then peel it. Place peel in a pot and then squeeze out all juice in the pot as well.
- Pour the glögg, soy sauce and spices in the pot and bring to a boil
- Add the meat and bring to a boil again, cook under lid on low heat for around 45-60 min
- Remove the meat and add the starch to the sauce (blend it with a small amount of cold water before adding it to the pot to avoid lumps)
- Serve hot with a potato gratin
