Ribs cooked in mulled wine

Most days I prefer to have meat grilled rather than boiled, but for this recipe I can make an exception 🙂 These spare ribs cooked in mulled wine (glögg) are so delicious they have become a regular dish on our Christmas table.

Recipe: Spare ribs cooked in mulled wine (glögg)

Ingredients
  

  • 1½ kg spare ribs
  • 1 orange
  • 600 ml glögg mulled wine
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 10 allspice
  • 2 tsp rosemary
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp maize starch

Instructions
 

  • Cut the ribs in ~5 cm pieces (2 inches)
  • Clean the orange and then peel it. Place peel in a pot and then squeeze out all juice in the pot as well.
  • Pour the glögg, soy sauce and spices in the pot and bring to a boil
  • Add the meat and bring to a boil again, cook under lid on low heat for around 45-60 min
  • Remove the meat and add the starch to the sauce (blend it with a small amount of cold water before adding it to the pot to avoid lumps)
  • Serve hot with a potato gratin
