No Swedish Christmas is complete without Ischoklad! Together with knäck (Swedish christmas toffee) it is the most typical Christmas candy in Sweden. The original recipe for ischoklad is in my mind a bit boring with just chocolate and coconut butter. In this recipe I used orange flavoured chocolate bars, a tsp of Cointreau and then a raisin or two in each. If you want there are a number of other ways to change the recipe depending on what you like, over at this Swedish site Landleys kök they have recipes for the following variations:
- Mörk ischoklad med glöggsmak – Dark ice chocolate with mulled wine
- Mörk ischoklad med saffran och apelsin – Dark ice chocolate with saffron and orange
- Mörk ischoklad med lakrits – Dark ice chocolate with licorice
- Ljus ischoklad med rom och kokos – Light ice chocolate with coconut and rum
- Ljus ischoklad med saltad nötkross – Light ice chocolate with salted crunched nuts
- Ljus ischoklad med pepparkakskryddor – Light ice chocolate with gingerbread spices
- Vit ischoklad med lime – White ice chocolate with lime
- Vit ischoklad med lakrits – White ice chocolate with licorice
- Vit ischoklad med saffran – White ice chocolate with saffron
